Genesis 45:3-11, 15 -- Joseph welcomes his brothers

Luke 15:11-32 -- The Prodigal Son

THE MESSAGE: “FAMILY ESTRANGEMENT”
This week we look at ways we might end family estrangement by exploring two stories from the scriptures: the story of Joseph who was betrayed by his brothers, and Jesus' Parable of the Prodigal Son.

Attention all Cooks!

High school student Sam Robinson is a volunteer at the food bank in Goderich and he's come up with a wonderful idea - but he needs our help!  Sam would like to create a cookbook for the clients of the foodbank with tips and tricks on how to use usual items they find in the foodbank, create healthy meals, stretch their food budget and reduce food waste.

Some of the foods that are available in food banks are:

  • canned foods such as vegetables, fruits, fish and meats;
  • pasta and sauce;
  • beans (both dry and canned);
  • soups;
  • fresh fruits and vegetables (in season) as well as potatoes, onions and carrots year round.

Sam is hoping to have the book completed in late March and will have a book launch at that time.  The book will be sold for $20.00 - $25.00 and for every book sold, a copy will be provided to local food bank clients at no cost.

We'll keep you updated on pre-orders and other information about book sales.

Huron County’s economic department Supporting Local Youth Program (SLYP) was so impressed with Sam's idea and plan that they awarded him a grant to make a cookbook a reality! But now he needs help from the community fill the pages.

Would you be willing to share a recipe or two with Sam?  We all have recipes that we love, are simple and healthy and don't require a lot of ingredients.  you know, that yummy Friday night casserole or Sunday dessert!

This is a photograph of a recipe book, a whisk and eggs.

Sharing is super simple!  Simply click on the link below and fill in your recipe!

If you would rather fill out the recipe by hand, download this form, write out your recipe and bring it to church on Sunday and we'll get it to Sam.
